Billed together as Fate & Melanie, they broaden the traditional Americana duet format with jazz-influenced harmonic language, bossa nova rhythms, and insightful, poignant, and at times, political lyricism.

Combining Fate’s intricate finger-style picking and Melanie’s classically trained jazz vocals, they create melodies that dance around each other in a pensive pas-de-deux. Taking cues from two-piece greats like Gillian Welch and David Rawlings and Joan Baez and Bob Dylan, Fate & Melanie’s music is both familiar and unique, melancholic and hopeful -- offering a different perspective of the Midsouth experience so often associated with Americana and folk.
